Early life

Agbabi was natural within London & as a stripling sleep in Northerly Wales. Her parents were Nigerian. She exposed English Language & Literature at Pembroke College, Oxford.

Agbabi began performing on the London club circuit within 1995. She hwhen cited her influences as including Janis Joplin, Carol Ann Duffy, Chaucer and various aspects of contemporary music and culture.

Poetry and performances

Agbabi's number 1 collection of poetry, R.The.W was published withinside 1995 & received a Excelle Literary Award in 1997.

She has performed extensively & too worked unitedly by owning more writers. Her function has as well been influenced by rap rhythms and pun. She wwhen the member of Atomic Lip, which has been described as "poetry's first pop group". It worked together from either 1995 to 1998 & their go tour, Quadrophonix, inside 1998 merged survive & streaming video performance. Inside 1996 she worked in a performance piece known as FO(U)R WOMEN, using Adeola Agbebiyi & Dorothea Smartt, 1st performed at the Institute of Contemporary Arts.

Too when performing around Britain she has besides undertaken reading tours of Namibia, a Czech Republic, Zimbabwe, Germany & Switzerland, working using a British Council. She participate inside Modern Love, a spoken word event looking for love & modern relationships, which toured the UK & Switzerland.

Her poetry has been featured inside television & radio, including a Channel Four series Litpop in 1998 & on the toddlers's programme Blue Peter around 1999. Inside 2000 she was one of tenner poets accredited by BBC Radio Four to write the verse form for National Poetry Day.

Her virtually all recent book, Transformatrix, was published within 2000 & occurs as comment in contemporary Britain which draws inspiration from either popular music forms. Her todays act around progress is known as Person Language.

Agabi has taught & process workshops & too been poet within home at various site ranging from either Oxford Brookes University to the London tattoo & piercing studio. She has an MA inside Creative Writing, a Humanistic discipline & Education from either a University of Sussex & around September 2002 was appointed Associate Creative Writing Lecturer at a University of Wales, Cardiff.

Inside 2004 she wwhen known as as one of a Next Generation poets.
